About the Artist
Beatrix Fowler's interdisciplinary practice moves fluidly between music, painting, printmaking, performance, and clothing. Across each medium, her work interrogates systems of power and representation, drawing from lived experience while engaging feminist traditions that position the personal as inherently political.
If you came up around the mid-2000s DIY underground, you probably remember BARR, her cult confessional music project that soundtracked a very particular moment of queer experimental culture. Years later, she lent that same sensibility to clothing through SOME WARE, her collaboration with artist Cali DeWitt, where the two created graphics-heavy garments designed to be worn often and worn rough.
Now, she returns to SOME WARE as a solo project and with a new body. A rare merch-adjacent artifact that's as considered materially as it is aesthetically.
