EVERYBODY.WORLD BY ESSENCE & JIHAARI

GET TO KNOW THEM

Both are from Oakland, both are in love with Blackness, image making and aesthetics, and both happen to be married to the other. Together they have a syncretic practice of creativity wherein making art, hosting events, and djing are all part of their partnership.’Jihaari and I stay in steady chat so sharing in terms of ideas comes easily. Now, working through differences can be trying at times, but we both trust each other and ultimately find room for us both to shine,’ says Essence.’

THE ITEM MISSING FROM THEIR WARDROBE

They’ve designed a genderless and durable sneaker-slipper hybrid, with a sturdy leather upper and unslippable suede insole. Essence is obsessed with a chunky sole and Jihaari wanted something that could easily slip on and stay on.

Their shoes are made by George, one of the last shoemakers in Los Angeles, using Vibram soles.

The vulcanized rubber sole is designed to provide excellent traction on the widest range of surfaces and have a high degree of abrasion resistance.
