Essence Harden & Jihaari Terry

Essence is a visual arts curator at The California African American Museum and Jihaari is a music producer, DJ, and visual artist. Both are from Oakland, both are obsessed with Star Trek: Next Generation and both are in love with their toddler, Baby O.

For EVERYBODY.WORLD, they first designed a genderless and durable sneaker meets work shoe meets slipper. They've also created a Big Tote featuring artwork by Meg Fransee, but the newest piece missing from their wardrobe is a Long Sleeve Crop.

Like all EVERYBODY.WORLD contributors, Essence & Jihaari receives 10% of the sales of their designs. For their tote bag, 30% from each sale goes to Essence & Jihaari and 30% goes to Meg.

EVERYBODY.WORLD BY ESSENCE & JIHAARI

Essence is a visual arts curator at The California African American Museum and Jihaari is a music producer, DJ, and visual artist. Both are from Oakland, both are obsessed with 'Star Trek: Next Generation' and both are in love with their toddler, Baby O.

'We believe collaboration, adaption, and locality are key elements for our life pursuits.'

Their first design for the Contributor Collection was a genderless shoe, with a sturdy leather upper and unslippable suede insole.

Then they created a Big Tote featuring artwork by their dear friend (and Baby O's godparent!), Meg Fransee, whose art also adorns their walls at home.

'Jihaari and I stay in steady chat so sharing in terms of ideas comes easily. Now, working through differences, can be trying at times, but we both trust each other and ultimately find room for us both to shine,' says Essence.
